An Afternoon At Burwash Manor

They do say all good things come in three... so here we go, third lifestyle post in a row - and it just so happens to be my favourite of them all.

Last week my mother, sister and I (along with the beautiful little Rose that is my niece) made a mini mid-week adventure to the outskirts of Cambridge, to Burwash Manor, where we were greeted by tranquility, sunshine and the sound of birds singing.

We walked through the rustling trees, past the sheep and pigs, to discover a fully converted farm (wellies and quilted jackets aren't required, but optional on rainy days) which houses a courtyard of little shops for you spend your time finding things you never knew you wanted; for me, Persian rugs and blue garden furniture... it's a dangerous place!

Of course, there was only one place I had my eye on

Is there anything more beautiful than the scent you're welcomed by walking into a florist, discovering new flowers and dreaming about filling the entire house with your favourites?

Behold, a new dream ^ to have walls covered in floral illustrations and the history of each plant: I've never seen a florist's like it - magical.

After retail therapy comes lunch, and Burwash Manor has two offerings to fix the solution of rumbling tummies:

The Barn Tearooms

Or simply head to the farmshop where you will find fresh and organic produce (some of which is from the working farm) where you can choose from the counter what you fancy, order a cup of the freshly ground Hot Numbers coffee and pick your ultimate spot in the sunshine for a truly lovely lunch of leisure.

I know I'll be after one of those golden scotch eggs next time!

 Treats for the sweet tooth.

Personally, I would choose a stack of woody asparagus with hollandaise and a runny poached egg over meringues any-day.

I would live very happily with a fridge full of this much colour.

We spent the rest of the afternoon by the lake, catching little specks of sun as it glistened through the trees.

One thing I was excited to learn about Burwash Manor is the walks they offer around the different areas, an enjoyable way to work off that naughty cake - or just head to The Spa to sweat it out.

The next time I find myself with a sunny day and nothing in the diary, I plan on packing up a picnic and exploring the walks for miles to spoil myself with nature and peace, away from the noise and chaos of the city - who's in?
