Lunchtime Cocktails, Afternoon Views

A leisurely day in London is always a treat, and my latest trip was no exception.

Emily and I headed straight over to the backs of Regent Street, scurrying along in the scorching heat to Soho, to the home of the infamous 'Press For Champagne' button...

The Friday Feeling was in full swing, so we both reached straight for the cocktails menu, resulting in a round of Cucumber and Gin Martinis - delightfully refreshing, but goes straight to your head on a hot summers day.

With our eyes on the mains, we skipped starters and went wild - watching as the room quickly filled with businessmen and their 'meetings'.

The Blue Room's decor is what brings the restaurant to life; mesmerizing marble tops, grand chandeliers and deep blues edged with gold take you back in time to a world of oriental glamour.

You may find yourself daydreaming about happily moving in and hosting extravagant dinner parties on a weekly basis, and then being brought back to reality with the arrival your dishes.

Hand-rolled Pasta with Mushroom and Truffle for Emily, there's a poached egg hiding beneath the wild selection of mushrooms which all went down very well.

I'm not much of a pie girl, which could easily change if they were all as delicious as the Chicken, Mushroom and Champagne pie - the Bob Bob Ricard customized golden pastry top may have helped a little too.

Sides? Go for the beef dripping roasted carrots and parsnips, with the fries to soak up all that sweet sticky sauce left behind.

Emily is a girl who will have you in stitches throughout a meal (or any time), being eager to carry on the laughter we opted for dessert - all of which I would of happily eaten, but the Strawberries and Cream Souffle stole my heart.

A light and fruity souffle with a strawberry coulis pouring cream which left me feeling fully self-indulged.

Or there's the lighter option - trio of sorbet with a shot of vodka. I'm not a fan of vodka, but the real Russian stuff is a game-changer!

After sipping the last of our martinis, it was time to say our farewells to the charming staff.

Easily my favourite restaurant in London to date. Perhaps one to keep under your belt for a special occasions, or take some advice from me and go for no reason other than to surround yourself with great company and food to savor.

A quick detour off Regent Street and a walk through the city helped work off our lunch, leaving us ready to take in the views of London at the latest Instagrammers haven, Sky Gardens.

You are greeted by the most breathtaking view of London, and a breeze that was gratefully received after a hot rush in the city.

The greenery and gardens are perfectly showcased by the bright daylight that illuminates the entire room.

After finding our perfect spots, we sat and watched as the rest of London worked their way through to rush hour whilst we chatted away, had one last eyeful of the Big Smoke and went away for some last minute retail therapy.

(Including a little bit of eye candy shopping through Bank... all those navy suits are too much for us both)

- an innocent end to the day.
